Question   How do you pronouce your last name, Aksomitis?

Answer   Really, Aksomitis is not as hard as it looks written down! It is pronouced like this: The Akso sounds like oxo, as in oxo cubes; the mitis sounds like Midas as in Midas mufflers. So altogether Aksomitis sounds like "oxomidas."

Question   How many publications do you have in periodicals, Websites, newspapers, and other journalism markets?

Answer  I have more than 1000 publications in various markets in both the traditional and online publishing worlds. I first published at the age of ten, and started my journalism career as the high school correspondent to local newspapers in the tenth grade. Currently I'm a reviewer for Resource Links magazine for Canadian learning resources.

Question   Where do you sell your photos?

Answer  I have published my photos in book format (I've taken all but three of the two hundred photos in Illlustrated Guide to Snowmobile Racing, which David and I wrote, plus have half a dozen photos in Snowmobiles from Capstone Educational Publisher), newspapers, and travel magazines (such as Connecticut AAA Journeys, Pathfinders magazine, Dreamscapes, etc).

Question   Where can I read some of your travel articles in traditional print magazines?

Answer  I will have an article in most 2008 issues of Heartland Boating, plus have the September 2007 feature in that magazine. You can read about some of my snowmobile adventures in American Snowmobiler: Whitehorse, Yukon Territories, in February 2007, and Whiteshell Provincial Park in 2008. I have also published in Travel Canada, Abilities Magazine, Pathfinders, and was a Field Editor for Country Discoveries for three years before it ceased publishing, among other publications.

Question   Where can I find some of your articles on the Internet?

Answer  I'm the Owner and Webmaster for guide2travel.ca  and the Managing Editor/Photographer for SnowRider Online Magazine

These are a few of my favourite articles on other Websites:

Question   Where do you still want to travel?

Answer  I love visiting the Southern United States, especially the Gulf Shore states, so always look for trips there. One area I haven't travelled much of is the U.S. East coast, so that's a priority too. In Canada, I still have to visit New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nunavut, and the Northwest Territories. I also enjoy travel to other continents, and while I've been in Europe, Asia, and Mexico, there are still many, many destinations I'd love to see.

Question   Do you take FAM trips?

Answer  Yes, I participate in FAM trips, individually hosted trips, plus travel independently with my husband or other family members.

Question   What kind of trips do you enjoy most?

Answer  I like adventure trips that let me try new experiences and activities. However, I also like a trip to be sprinkled with historic and cultural activities, so I can get a sense of what the location is all about. A trip that's pure adrenlin rush leaves little time for absorbing the place, while one that's museum after museum numbs the mind and body both.

Question   What's the next "most important" destination you want to visit?

Answer  David and I are hoping to get to Hungary in August of 2008. I am planning a YA, and a children's novel, that focus around the Hungarian Revolution in 1956, so I want to research that, plus I am part Hungarian, so want to learn more about my heritage. Also, David and I both have a Grand Prix on our list of must-dos, so we hope to get to the Hungarian Formula One Grand Prix.
